The G3 was developed under different names after WW2 and eventually the G3 rifle was given to H&K in the 1970s. The G3 uses a roller-delayed blowback operating system which is reliable and accurate. Many versions of the H&K G3 were developed including one in 5.56x45 (.223) called the HK33. In the mid 1970s a semi-automatic only version of the HK33 was produced called the Heckler & Koch HK93 version is chambered in 5.56x45 (.223) and is semi-automatic only.
